Play Klezmer! Clarinet

Through Eastern Europe the klezmorim travelled. They were travelling musicians who mingled with the local folk in every region they visited, taking in a variety of musical styles and local musical culture to form a sensual and emotive new sound. Klezmer music reached its peak in 30s America and was rediscovered in the 1970s.

• Characteristic augmented seconds combined with solo parts which are not too difficult 
• there are certain guidelines but generally dynamics and tempo are not strictly fixed  
• interpreting the music in your own way is part of the magic of Klezmer music  
• Use your knowledge of the clarinet to give a personal touch to the music.
