This volume, the first in the Horn Masterclass Series, contains a collection of four horn concertos by Mozart and his contemporaries Wilhelm Gottlieb,Antonin Reicha and Jan Vaclav Stich. The CD contains a performance of these works by Jacob Slagter,principal solo horn player with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam,accompanied by a string quartet.
In this publication, both the parts in their original voicings and the transpositions for F Horn are included.

Jacob Slagter was named solo horn with the Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest(KCO)in late 1985. He appeared a soloist with the KCO under the direction of high-ranking conductors such as Bernard Haitink and Wolfgang Sawallisch. He is currently active in all fields of music. In addition to performing chamber music with the 'Fodor Quintet' and occupying various conductiong positions, he is a lecturer at the Amsterdam 'Gogeschool voor de Kunsten'. He has been awarded many prizes, the most prestigious being the Dutch music Prize that he received in 1988.
