A selection of English, Irish,Scottish and Welsh traditional songs, arranged for cello with piano accompaniment, to give encouragement and enjoyment to cellists familiar with the notes and fingering in first position, who are beginning to explore positions 2, 3 and 4. The melodies are short, varied in style and mood, fall easily on the ear, and can be learnt quickly.  They afford plenty of opportunity to experience new territory, and to understand the use of different and more appropriate ways of fingering, rather than sticking to first and fourth positions.
